Unit Five - Taking Medications

The main focus of this unit is to make learners comfortable discussing medications and asking questions of the doctor or pharmacist. The activities in this unit explain the difference between over-the-counter and prescription drugs, provide questions to ask a pharmacist, and offer information on alternative medicine.

Click here for a Tutor’s Guide for this unit, which provides advice about teaching the use of words like “sometimes”, “often”, and “never.” This guide also focuses on the importance of being sensitive to the medical practices of other cultures.
